Surface treatment
The main purpose of surface treatment is to increase the protection against corrosion or wear on different types of parts before their final assembly and commissioning. These operations ensure that the parts concerned comply with applicable regulations and standards in the field. This represents a real advantage for MECAPROTEC Industries' customers who gain in terms of performance and lead-times.
We master all surface treatments that apply to the aeronautical sector: cadmium, phosphate, oxide, anodic, conversion and zinc-nickel coatings. Our expertise is supported by the requisite accreditations and certifications for carrying out our missions.
Services provided by Mécaprotec Industries:
Steel and Stainless steel
- Passivated cadmium coating (bichromate, white) or phosphoric finish
- Zinc-Nickel coating (cadmium substitute)
- Manganese phosphate coating
- Passivation of austenitic and martensitic stainless steel
Aluminium
Chrome anodising treatment: BF4[P1] and sealing: 30 mg/l
Tartaric-sulphuric acid anodising treatment
Boric-sulphuric acid anodising treatment
Sulphuric acid anodising treatment (bichromate and colourless)
Chemical conversion (Alodine 1200)
Chemical milling (on aluminium and titanium)

Non-destructive testing
Non-destructive testing is an activity that complements surface treatment preparation, which aims to verify substrate conformity. Two methods are employed: penetrant testing [P2]and magnetic particle inspection
Services provided by Mécaprotec Industries:
Fluorescent penetrant inspection
Penetrant inspection on Chrome anodising treatment
Magnetic particle inspection

Painting
The paint application phase is carried out to finalise the surface treatment of a part. In all cases, the paint reinforces the protection of the material it covers and thereby increases its resistance to corrosion. However, paint is not applied uniformly everywhere and certain parts have areas that must be masked and/or where several layers of different paints must be applied. All this means that painting is a complex job.
Moreover, the REACH Directive is forcing paint manufacturers to review the constituents of their paint. For this reason, MECAPROTEC Industries uses ultra high-solid water-soluble paints. The company therefore has to use a wide range of different paints (more than 400 in total). These are added to the accreditation catalogue (which already has over 300 references) and makes the application of this process even more complex.
Services provided by Mécaprotec Industries:
Liquid paint:
- Polyurethane, epoxy, vinyl, cellulose
- Water-soluble paint
- Conductive paint
- Finishing varnish
Special coatings:
- Solid film lubricants (Molykote, Molydal, etc...)

Chemical milling
Chemically milling is a process for reducing the weight of a titanium or aluminium panel. This weight reduction cannot be done mechanically and requires technology using immersion in high-temperature caustic soda baths.
MECAPROTEC Industries performs chemical milling on aero-structure parts (for exteriors, leading edges) in order to reduce the weight, since this is a crucial issue in the aerospace field.

Development
Working in partnership with public laboratories (the Carnot CIRIMAT Institute of the Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse, ELECTRODEP at the University of Barcelona), MECAPROTEC Industries conducts upstream research, which is essential for remaining proactive in terms of more environmentally-friendly chemical solutions.
Indeed, new environmental directives (e.g.: REACH) are prompting R&D projects to study substitute materials in order to avoid the use of substances and preparations containing Carcinogenic-Mutagenic-Reprotoxic (CMR) compounds, and to take action to reduce discharges of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). This stringent legislation is forcing the industrial sector to adapt very quickly without decreasing quality and performance.
MECAPROTEC Industries has therefore chosen to focus its research efforts on "cleaner" processes by setting up a dedicated structure that can intervene at each phase of a product's design, from the concept and transfer of technology through to the qualification process.

Training
MECAPROTEC industries has an employment policy that is systematically linked to on-going occupational training.
Our business areas (surface treatment, aircraft painting, and non-destructive testing) are fields that are frequently absent from university or school curricula.
For this reason, in 1995, our company registered as an official French training organisation in order to train its personnel in house. Drawing on its in-house experience, in 2011 MECAPROTEC industries outsourced its training programmes by creating a dedicated training organisation: ( registration no. 71 31 06241 31).
In this section, you will find a description of the jobs we often seek to fill through our recruitment, as well as the entire range of vocational training courses we offer to new recruits in order to provide them with the knowledge and skills to operate in our business, or to perfect existing skills.
Recruitment, job adaptation, training, improvement, qualifications recognised in the sector: you could follow this path when you join MECAPROTEC industries.
